Mayor's Message

On behalf Council and Staff I would like to welcome you to our Community website and to visit our jewel nestled on the banks of its namesake Snow Lake in Northern Manitoba. Our community is located 700 kms. North of Winnipeg and situated approximately halfway between the communities of Flin Flon and Thompson.

A place where beauty and nature are in abundance. One of Manitoba’s best kept secrets that has more to offer than you could imagine. A small town nestled in the Boreal forest surrounded by countless lakes within a half-hour ride from the community.

We are a short 20 minute ride in on Highway 392 off of Hwy 39. Ten minutes into the journey will take you past picturesque Wekusko Falls Provincial Park. With 100 plus camping spots and 2 swinging bridges that take you across different sections of Wekusko Falls. Definitely worth the stop.

Our community has some of the best world-class trophy fishing summer or winter, whether it be Walleye, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, or Northern Pike you are looking for it is here. There is something for everyone. A beautiful beach located right in the heart of the Community offers activities for all. Our beach transforms to a staging area on July 1st to host a fireworks display that is second to none.

While there are countless opportunities for the outdoor enthusiasts from boating, fishing, quad riding, snowmobiling, kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing, and the list goes on. There are opportunities for people into photography whether it just be the beauty of the general outdoors or countless opportunities for wildlife pictures, bear, moose, caribou, fox lynx, and countless birds from Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Cranes to name a few.

On countless evenings whether it be summer or winter the sky is filled with Northern Lights.

Within our community some of the amenities services and facilities that are available include a grocery store 2 gas stations, 2 convenience stores, restaurants, school Churches, bank, post office, hospital, pharmacy and a Municipal office.

On the recreation end of things we have a Curling Rink, Arena, Community Hall, Beach Volleyball, Tennis Court, Indoor and outdoor rifle ranges, Paintball park, and a beautiful 9 hole Golf course and clubhouse.

Being known and existing as a mining community for the majority of our 73 years it would be remiss of me to not mention our mining museum. The museum hosts a vast background of mines in the area and the growth of the Community. Within the confines of the building and area surrounding are a number of pieces of mining-related equipment. Inside is a donated collection of rock samples from our local mines and other mines throughout Canada. The staff and building managers are always more than willing to answer any questions you may have.

Enjoy your visit or Enjoy your Stay.

We are worth the drive-in.

Mayor Peter Roberts
